2008 Paris Auto Show

This show is way too big to see it all in one day. I decided to visit just two buildings: Hall 1 and 4. I further condensed my visit by just walking by some company displays like Porsche and Ferrari  – the crowds were just too big and they were controlling access to the cars (they actually had a waiting line to view some of the displays).

The exotics were not the only ones drawing big crowds: Mini (with their loud hip music) had a huge following. Smart also had lots of interest as did the mini cars of Fiat and Abarth. I was unable to resist the temptation to try the driver’s seats in these cars (not bad but I guess I am used to the cozy feel of my Boxster).

Also generating lots of interest was VW’s Scirocco- could we be getting this one in the USA?

Another thing I noticed prominently displayed on many cars was their “green” status: For some cars, it was not enough to display their gas mileage, many were displaying in huge letters their carbon footprint.

Generating a lot of attention: Alfa Romeo. They not only brought out some of the most beautiful new cars, they brought out a classic race car.

In Hall 4 I also found Audi’s Le Mans race car – still with the race dirt.
