Zero Gravity
This past weekend was a good weekend: On Sunday I had a great time flying a Decathlon and I finished off the flight with an ultra-smooth landing. Sunday I drove my BMW 2002 to Ellington, took care of my bi-annual flight review and then finished off the flight with another smooth landing. (I will admit that Tigers are much easier to land than Decathlons or even Cessna 172s.)
It had been a long time since I had been at Ellington but this was the first time I had noticed the Vomit Comet on display. According to Wikipedia, this is the same airplane used in the movie “Apollo 13” for some of the zero gravity scenes.
As I was taxiing to the runway I noticed Zero G’s 727. This plane travels around the country giving civilians a chance to experience weightlessness. But the experience does not come cheap: the price is $4,950 (plus tax) – that’s could be a lot of zero gs in a Decathlon! Of course, we don’t all have this option.
