Once around Houston

View of the Royalton - my home

I had planned on taking a nice flight around Houston with a stop in Galveston. It was a good day for photos but it turned out to be a busy day to be a pilot. I managed to get a picture of my home (the high rise at the top of the photo – notice all the green around my home? That’s why I love living there.)

Picture of downtown Houston

I also managed to get a nice picture of downtown but that was about it. Once I got past downtown I was busy watching for traffic.

I departed from West Houston and followed I-10 East (the VFR corridor, remaining below 2000 feet). Because this is very congested area, I asked for flight following. I continued east to the San Jacinto monument and then headed south for Galveston. I did a touch and go in Galveston and then I followed highway 6 to Sugar Land where I turned north (after receiving clearance from Sugar Land tower to enter their airspace). From here, it was almost a straight shot back to West Houston Airport.
