SEO for $500?
Is it possible to get Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for $500? It depends on your expectations. Some SEO professionals claim that you need to spend thousands to get listed at the top search results and there is some truth there. Of course, if you have a small business, spending several thousands may be out of question. So is $500 realistic? You should consider spending $500 a good starting point for a small business website – you will never be finished with SEO work.
When I commit to working with a client for $500 worth of SEO work I am laying the groundwork for my client:
• I review the website to determine if basic steps have been taken
• Some SEO work can be automated so I look to see if that has been done
• I look at how the website’s content has been created and I may suggest changes (I never make any changes to a website without clearing it with a client)
• After reviewing the website itself, I look at what external tools can be used to make changes
I will allow about eight hours to do the above work. Depending on the website, I may not be able to do all the steps to completion. I will be able to generate a report of what has been done and what else needs to be done. The client will be able to use the report as a roadmap to continue the work or the client can choose to have me do all or portions of the work.
As I stated before, SEO work is never done. You can work your way to the top but you will have to continue doing some SEO work else you will be replaced. $500 is not going to place you at the top and keep you there but it will help you get started and providing you with a roadmap to follow.
